Some artists even combine drawings and paintings. This is the case with a newcomer, Pierre Brost, who is exhibiting a beautiful collection of works at 5 rue Auber until March 27, including two oil paintings, one of which is an important painting by François Gérard, La Proclamation du duc d'Anjou (ill. 1), a preparatory work for a painting at the Palace of Versailles now housed at the Château de Chambord.

Among several portraits, including those of the great collector the Comte d'Orsay and his wife, by an artist from the circle of François-Hubert Drouais, we can mention that of Edouard Colbert de Villacerf (ill. 2) by Hyacinthe Rigaud and another by Nicolas de Largillière depicting an unidentified woman. It should also be noted that a beautiful study of cats, in charcoal and pastel, has been acquired by a local authority for a château, a purchase that we will include in our new database (see article) as soon as it has been finalized.
